The United States Department of Justice has filed a major suit against Live Nation Ticketmaster in May. It argues that the entertainment giant acts as a monopoly. This week, 10 more state attorneys general have joined the suit. The total now stands at 39 states plus the District of Columbia. The plaintiffs have also filed an amended complaint in which they make further allegations of anticompetitive behavior from the company.
Live Nation-Ticketmaster is the dominant ticket seller and venue booking service in the United States, according to the government. This has stifled the competition in this market. Consumers became more angry with the company after it botched ticket sales for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.
