The Port of Seattle which operates the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport said that it had been hit by a “possible” cyberattack that affected websites and phone systems.
The port initially noted the outages on social media Saturday morning. then posted that the airport had “experienced certain systems outages indicating a potential cyberattack.”
The airport reported that was still experiencing outages. “There is no estimated time for a return and Port Teams continue to work to restore service.” It also encouraged passengers to use airline apps to obtain their boarding passes, bag tags, as well as to allow extra travel time to their gates.
According to a TechCrunch DNS review, the Port of Seattle’s public-facing website and web infrastructure, which includes its website, appeared to still be largely offline as of Sunday morning Pacific Time.
A TSA spokesperson confirmed to GeekWire there was no impact. The Biden Administration released an executive order earlier this year aimed at improving cybersecurity.
This comes less than one month after a CrowdStrike update caused , a global IT meltdown which included flight cancellations and delays .
