The Epic Games Store is now available for Android users worldwide and in Europe. This could ( could ) be the start of a larger shift in how apps are distributed, especially on iPhones.
Epic has made this a crusade. Its antitrust suit against Apple was dismissed last year, but the company has managed to achieve success in other areas.
The Epic Games Store can be downloaded on iOS devices thanks to the Digital Markets Act, a new EU law. On the flip side, the new iOS store is only accessible in the EU.
Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, said in a statement that “the tide is turning, and the mobile ecosystem has finally opened up to competition.”
The store will start with Epic titles such as Fortnite, Rocket League Sideswipe, and Fall Guys on mobile. Epic plans to add games from third-party developers starting in December.
